Outdoor Digital Signage Enclosures – Outdoor Dynamic Marketing To Factory Information System protection

Protective LCD enclosures are utilized in many industries to defend delicate hardware or were hardware is deployed in hostile areas, such as in plants and in the open air for digital signage.

These protecting cases give more than enough protection from the cold weather, so no matter if it is raining, snowing or incredibly hot; these LCD housings provide the correct protection even from hooligans who try to either vandalize the screen or pinch the TV. The fortification is classed as IP65 for European standards or NEMA 4 for American standards; however the United states standards increase to NEMA 4 when the LCD cases are produced from stainless steel.

Usually NEMA 4X LCD housings are used in manufacturers were factory data systems are installed, these cases protect the internal hardware as at the end of each production shift the production area is hosed down with a mild mixture of water and mild bleach or detergent.

NEMA 12 and NEMA 4 are used for outside dynamic advertising, this is were large monitor TVs and a ads player is used to show large eye catching commercials, major brands have used this type of promoting for many years such as Prada and Rayban sun glasses.

Here these outdoor digital signage enclosures protect the equipment from the caustic fluid and air borne debris and these are normally fitted with a special filter that can be cleaned providing an nonstop service and a long term life for the PC and LCD screen.

These are in general rated at IP56 and IP65, the IP56 is the equivalent of the NEMA 12 and used in most manufacturing facilities, these permit customers to login to the company network and check the position of their order, to see when it will be ready for shipping and then the actual plant management can see what proportion of scrap is created and who creates it, so over a period of a month, they can even monitor and address any headache areas, slashing scrap does lift profit for the plant.

Importance of Choosing the Right Digital Signage Enclosure

Importance of Choosing the Right Digital Signage Enclosure

There is much to think about when planning a digital signage campaign. You have to source screens, media players and sort out dynamic and engaging content. And with so much to do, it is no wonder that many installers of DS systems neglect one of the most important aspects of any digital advertising or out of home campaign – the enclosure.

Digital signage enclosures encompass many facets and are not just a frame to house the LCD. Most LCD enclosures are designed for protection too and in the case of outdoor digital signage, provide climatic and environmental components to ensure the optimum operating conditions.

Choosing the right type of LCD enclosure for a digital signage campaign is very important, especially if you don’t want to risk breakdown or failure of screens, which can often be caused by overheating screens in the wrong enclosure.
In choosing a the correct LCD enclosure there are several questions you need to ask yourself to discover which type of digital signage housing is best for your campaign.

Indoor or Outdoor

The first thing you need to establish is whether the digital signage screen will be in an outdoor or indoor location. Outdoor digital signage enclosures need to be waterproof but also they need to ensure that the optimum operating temperature inside the enclosure doesn’t vary from the manufacturer’s recommendation. Too hot or too cold could result in premature failure of the TV screen.

Floor, ceiling or wall mounted

Another consideration you need to think about is the mounting option. There are primarily three methods of mounting a DS screen: Floor standing digital signage enclosures, wall mounted or hung from the ceiling. Each has advantages and disadvantages and you need to decide what is best for your campaign. Floor standing digital signage enclosures are more noticeable but do take up floor space, whilst ceiling mounted digital signage is the least noticeable but the least obtrusive.

Design and functionality

Aesthetics are extremely important for an enclosure. The enclosure should act like a picture frame helping to draw the eye toward the content but is should also be functional for whatever location/purpose the signage is for
General Protection

Protecting LCD screens in outdoor locations is not the only protection an enclosure should offer. LCD TVs are desirable objects for thieves and tempting targets for vandals so the enclosure should be able to counter deliberate attempts to damage or steal the device.

The Use Of Digital Signage In Education

The Use Of Digital Signage In Education

With digital signage being so popular in the commercial world as a way of advertising, brand promotion and information, its growing use in other sectors was to be expected.

However, no other sector has embraced the usefulness of digital signage to such a degree as schools, colleges and universities. Educational institutes across the globe are using digital displays to transmit important information to students and staff.

One of the reasons for this uptake in this new signage in education is the flexibility of updating and changing the messages that are displayed. Before digital displays were used, notice boards were the only option for a school, college of university to relay such important information.

Now with digital signage, messages can be uploaded centrally and displayed on digital notice-boards across the campus, no matter how spread out the campus is.

Digital signage has also been useful for sports halls where the traditional chalk scoreboard has been replaced by a more dynamic method of reporting team scores and outside the gates to the school or college provides another location where this new signage has been found to be useful.

Informing the local community, parents and potential students what is happening with the walls of an educational establishment, is now a lot easier thanks tot eh use of outdoor digital signage.

Many schools and colleges now have an outdoor LCD display or other digital outdoor signage device at the front of the building to relay information about up coming events.

This sort of information used ot have to be delivered by letters brought home from students or a regular newsletter, now, thanks to digital outdoor signage this time of information is easily relayed to parents.

Outdoor signage systems like these do have to be protected though, which is why many education establishments use outdoor LCD enclosures to house their exterior digital signage. Not only do these protective LCD enclosures guard against the weather but they also provide a good defence against impacts – ideal for use in schools and colleges where there is a risk of accidental or deliberate damage.
